DTE Energy (formerly Detroit Edison before 1996) is a Detroit-based diversified energy company involved in the development and direction of energy-related companies and services from the United States and Canada.

Its operating units include an electric utility serving 2.2 million clients and a natural gas utility serving 1.3 million customers in Michigan.

The DTE Energy portfolio includes non-utility energy companies focused on power and industrial projects, natural gas pipelines, gathering and storage, and energy trading and marketing.

In 2016, DTE announced plans to decrease carbon emissions by 80 percent by 2050, but proceeded up that goal by a decade, pledging to reduce emissions by 80% by 2040. DTE will decrease carbon emissions by 50 per cent by 2030.

In 2019, DTE Electric Company announced a goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
