Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI) is a CPSU under the administrative control of This Ministry of Both New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Setup on 20th Sept, 2011 to Ease the Execution of JNNSM and achievement of Goals set therein.  It's the sole CPSU committed to the solar energy industry.  

But by means of a Government of India conclusion, the business has lately been transformed to some Section-3 business under the Companies Act, 2013.  The mandate of this firm has also been broadened to cover the whole renewable energy realm. 

From the current outlook of the RE industry, notably solar power, SECI has a significant part to play in the industry's development.  The business is accountable for execution of numerous strategies of MNRE, important ones being that the VGF strategies for large-scale grid-connected jobs under JNNSM, solar park strategy along with grid-connected solar rooftop strategy, alongwith a bunch of additional specialised schemes like defence strategy, canal-top plot, Indo-Pak border strategy etc..  Additionally, SECI has ventured in to solar project growth on turnkey basis for many PSUs.  The business also includes a power-trading permit and is busy in this domain via trading of solar energy out of projects installed under the schemes being executed by it.
